Wii like to play games

We just set up our Amazon.com registry!

This pretty little thing and our waffle maker are the two items that I'm looking forward to most!

Morning Glory Grammar

Cyrus and I had a blast tonight reading translations of apartment rental reviews!

Italian:
appartamento ottimo posizione centrale a 2 minuti dalla metro liceu , aveva veramente di tutto da consigliare, persona di contatto molto cordiale e gentile

English translation:
optimal apartment position centers them to 2 minuteren from the meter liceu, had truly of all advising, person of cordial contact much and kind one

* * *

German:
Tolles Service vor Ort, unkompliziert und freundlich. Auch die Wohnung entsprach unseren Ansprüchen. Bei einer Belegung des App. mit 4 Personen ist der Platz jedoch einwenig knapp

English translation:
Mad service locally, uncomplicatedly and friendly. Also the dwelling corresponded to our requirements. During an allocation of the App. with 4 persons the place is however in little scarce

Hehehe!

Suits or tuxes?

Daniel Henney wants to know...

Source

"Are you having our groomsmen wear suits or tuxes at your wedding?"

Another good question: Is this entry just an excuse to post this picture? Maybe. Hahaha...

But we are having a difficult time figuring this one out. If our groomsmen wear suits, then they won't have to spend money on a tux rental. It would make things feel a bit more casual. With tuxes, they might look more uniform and make the event feel a bit more formal.

I guess it just depends on what we're going for, and how much we want to honor our parents with the small decisions we make for our wedding...

STDs

I don't think I've ever posted about our finished save-the-dates. Take a look!

A simple postcard. Really, I don't have the creativity to make anything else. :) And in order to save some money, we decided to send these to our out-of-town guests only.

I jumped the gun a bit on these, because I showed them to our planner and she made some really good suggestions about how to make them better...too bad they were already printed.

I'll be sure to consult her every step of the way on our next stationary venture: invitations. Eek!!

Work

Most people know that HH stands for "happy hour." But today, we celebrate Cyrus's first day at Hogan & Hartson, the most awesome law firm in all of history! :) Cyrus will be working in DC this entire summer, which is pretty hard to believe!

So, we won't need any of these to see each other anymore...

Thank goodness!! Long distance is over!!

Chez Kwon

I had a dream last night that our awesome wedding planner (who's actually on vacation now) searched "apartment rentals" in Silver Spring and somehow reserved a room at our house. I went to check on her and found that she burned down the closet. My brother was there with a fire extinguisher.

Maybe we should go easy on the candles at our wedding?? :)

Strathmore Outdoor Film Festival

This is my favorite event of the summer! But of course, not this year. :)

Here's some info from dc.about.com:

"The lawn at Strathmore Music Hall in Bethesda, Maryland sets the stage for free outdoor movies during the Comcast Outdoor Film Festival. Bring a blanket and enjoy the show beginning at 8:10 each evening. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. The schedule is as follows:

Comcast Outdoor Film Festival Schedule - 2009

Friday, August 14 - "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"

Saturday, August 15 - "The Dark Knight"

Sunday, August 16 - "Kung Fu Panda"

Monday, August 17 - "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull"

Tuesday, August 18 - "Singing in the Rain"

Wednesday, August 19 - "Twilight"

Thursday, August 20 - "Slumdog Millionaire"

Friday, August 21 - "Enchanted" "

Rehearsal on the Strathmore lawn, anyone?? --followed by an excellent movie? :D :D

Myoozik

Here are some artists that you might be familiar with after our wedding...

Melody Gardot is a cooler Diana Krall; a cross between Amy Winehouse and Norah Jones, if you can imagine it. This girl recovered from a hit-and-run through music therapy and discovered her gift! This 24-year-old is simply amazing! My favorite songs: "Baby I'm a Fool," "Who Will Comfort Me," "Lover Undercover," "Love Me Like a River Does."

A Fine Frenzy
seems to be just this one girl...I don't really know much about her, but my Amazon MP3 page recommended her to me based on my previous purchases. I love the sound! I don't know how to describe it, but she always makes you feel like you're outside, which will be appropriate, I guess, because a lot of our wedding will be outside. :) My favorite songs: "Come On, Come Out," "Lifesize."

Cyrus and I discovered Tyrone Wells through Dave (the future brother-in-law!) when we visited him in LA last year. We wanted to see a show at Hotel Cafe, and this guy seemed like the best of the lot. I think this artist describes himself as sort of soul, but really he's just a white boy who plays the guitar. :) My favorite song is "Sea Breeze."

Dave Barnes is nuts. He writes his own promotional emails and he sounds like a fool. But who could imagine that this fool could come up with some of the most beautiful love songs ever? My favorites: "On a Night Like This," "Grace's Amazing Hands," "Nothing Fancy," "I Have and I Always Will," "Until You."

I'm really excited to work with our DJ to create the perfect atmosphere for our wedding!

Have you heard of any of these artists?

Hotel or Apartment Rental?

Cyrus and I are debating between renting a vacation apartment or staying at a hotel for our honeymoon.

Some random samples of pictures of available apartments at 700-850 euros for the whole week:

Or...

Le Meridien Barcelona for 1662 euros for the whole week? Yowza! Some pictures:

Luxury/convenience vs. value? Anyone ever rented a vacation apartment before? We're leaning towards the apartment rental...

Peonies

If we were getting married in spring, these peonies would be all over the place! But because they're out of season for our summer wedding, I splurged (a little) and I'm gonna have some shipped here to put in my bouquet!

Look at that texture!

Care Package

When Cyrus first started law school, I sent him care packages every once in a while filled with Post-Its, highlighters, microwaveable rice and instant noodles!

It's been a while since I've sent one, but now that he's in the middle of finals, I wish I'd thought of sending another care package sooner. If I had, here's what I would put in it:

:)

Booked!
